Introduction

Cork Old Folks Friendly Association Limited is a registered charity in Ireland (RCN 20019976) whose focus is on older people and the value of companionship within the community. Details of the association's history, services and activities are being gathered and will be published here once confirmed.

Our purpose and community focus

The association's focus is on older people: encouraging friendship, helping people stay connected to their communities, and promoting respect for the experience and contribution of older generations. We believe nobody should feel forgotten or alone simply because of their age or circumstances.

Why friendship among older people matters

Having people to share the day with gives life rhythm and meaning. A regular walk, a cup of tea, or a chat after an event can be something to look forward to — and a reason to get out the door.

Social connection supports confidence and participation. When people feel known and welcome, they are more likely to take part, to speak up, and to share what they know with others of every age.

Our commitment to dignity and inclusion

We aim to treat every person with courtesy and respect, to listen, and to make people of all backgrounds, abilities and circumstances feel welcome. Respect for personal choice, privacy and independence sits at the centre of how we want to work.

Mission, vision and values

Mission: To promote friendship, dignity, inclusion, and meaningful social connections for older people, helping them remain valued members of their communities and enjoy a stronger sense of belonging.
