Cork Old Folks Friendly Association
Friendship, Dignity and Belonging at Every Stage of Life
Discover the importance of connection, companionship, and community in helping older people feel valued, included, and supported.

Welcome
A conversation, a walk, a familiar face
Some of the most important things in later life are also the simplest: someone to talk to, somewhere to go, and the feeling that you are still very much part of the place you call home. Our association exists because we believe those things matter.
Loneliness can creep in quietly — after retirement, a bereavement, a move, or simply as friends and family become busy. Friendship and community participation help people keep their confidence, their routines and their sense of belonging. Everyone has knowledge, stories and humour worth sharing, and communities are richer when older people are at their heart.

Why friendship matters
Belonging is built one connection at a time
Having people to share the day with gives life rhythm and meaning. A regular walk, a cup of tea, or a chat after an event can be something to look forward to — and a reason to get out the door.
Social connection supports confidence and participation. When people feel known and welcome, they are more likely to take part, to speak up, and to share what they know with others of every age.
